Harlem River Drive – Bobby Humphrie

And so it sets in…

Laundry.

It was laundry time; it was either that or go spend money I didn’t have on new underwear and socks. And as I’m settling in on the reality of the decisions I’ve made to be in New York, I find comfort in knowing many other people that I know and respect have also done what I’m doing — starting with a completely clean slate. That’s both exciting and depressing.

This city offers small, yet effective pick-me-ups when motivation begins to dwindle…

Man in subway.

This guy played the piano with his head down, lifting it up periodically to check subway riders’ reactions and perhaps the contents of his donation jar. What made the scene funny was the mechanical dolls gyrating to his music.

Jenny from the Block.

This was also the last weekend I get to spend with Jennifer before she goes back to Maryland and then off to India. Yes, India. Later this month, a mutual friend of ours is hosting her for a two-week monsoon season vacation. Have fun, Jiggs.

And Happy Labor Day to you all…
